Close The Gap

Turning What We Know Into What We Do

We've all felt it—that space between what we know and what we do.

We know the walk will boost our mood, but we stay glued to the couch. We know a glass of water would help, but we reach for another cup of coffee instead. We know journaling brings clarity, but our pen stays capped and our notebook closed.

That space? It has a name: the knowing/doing gap.

And because we're human, we've all lived in it. Maybe we're living in it now. But here's the truth: closing the gap isn't about making massive changes overnight or guilting yourself into action. It starts with awareness—followed by small, intentional choices.

For example:

🧘🏻‍♂️ 5 minutes of movement

🚰 A glass of water before our next coffee

⏲️ A 10-minute timer to take just the first step on something we’ve been putting off

❤️‍🩹 Swapping self-judgment for self-curiosity

🫶🏼 Asking: What's one kind thing I can do for myself right now?

When we start where we are, with what we have, and choose a slight shift, we build momentum. And little by little, the gap begins to close. With that comes trust, confidence, and ease.

Affirmation: I honor what I know by taking aligned, intentional action. Each step closes the gap between knowing and doing.

Moving forward, let's make a conscious effort to:

👀 Notice where the gap shows up—without judgment.

📝 Choose one small action that supports us.

🎊 Celebrate any effort, no matter how small. It all counts.

1️⃣ We don't have to change everything. Let's start by changing something.

And let that something be kind, intentional, and rooted in what's true for us.
